Every company in America undergoes the frustration of looking for employees, time and time again. When employers are asked about employees, the biggest frustration they have is that the current day employees are not good. Most employers claim that employees are not loyal and have no work ethics. And so the search for a dream employee goes on. What does make a dream employee? This depends on whose perspective one looks at.
Most employers want their dream employee to be dedicated, passionate, full of energy, innovative and above all loyal. Does such an employee exist? Sure, the American Dream started with dream employees having these qualities. Unfortunately, dream employees with such great qualities are only found in one place- running their own business. Owners of successful businesses are classic examples of what a dream employee should be like.
However, today we live in an environment where every wants one to have a piece of the cake. No matter how great an employee is, if the employer does not share with him the financial rewards, they will never have a dream employee. To have a dream employee we need to have a culture that encourages and rewards staff for being entrepreneurial.
Dream employees today are hard to find as they are successfully running their own business, but one can create dream employees. To start off with, the employer has to reward the employee in a satisfactory manner; this does not mean giving him/her an enormous salary but a reasonable bonus when the opportunity comes. One should develop a reward system for thinking, innovation, punctuality and eagerness. Where it be monetary or otherwise. The employee should understand that the job is full of opportunities. When the employee is satisfied, he can be diligent, productive and innovative.
The one thing in business that no one should forget is that it is a team approach. Never paying attention to the needs of other employees only brings disharmony. Unfortunately we live in a very materialistic world where everyone wants to succeed, and to most success is measured in term of money. To have the dream employee, the employer should create opportunities for advancement and reward the employees in a satisfactory fashion.
One point to take home is that not every employee can be a dream employee. Everyone has their own failings and faults; sometimes one may have to go elsewhere where there talents many be more suited.
